In order to prevent these life-long dangers, these experts wants us to be informed on what exactly our shoes are doing to our bodies. From the immediate to the long term challenges that may arise after hours or days of use and more importantly on how to handle and preserve the good condition of our feet.

1. Stilettos

Being one of the classic shoes for women, these shoes offer numerous challenges such as foot aches and finding your balance. The primary reason?? - All in all, it puts your feet in a compromising position with its thin heels and high lift. Through these conditions, your body is already suffering serious work just to keep you in your pumps. It could easily lead you to muscle soreness in an instant.

One solution that Dr. Novella suggest is to choose the right height of the heels. "Using 4 to 8 inches of heels may also lead to less stress for the body since women are used to wearing this style of shoes and can tolerate them with ease all day long."

2. Ballet Flats

This type of shoe is so popular due to its easy-to-wear and comfortable feature. Flats grant extreme balance and less stress on the leg. But for those heel lovers, they can experience discomfort when they slip into these flats. According to Whartonto, "Plantar fasciitis and bunions are the common challenges you need to deal with upon wearing ballet flats."

The good news?? You can choose flats with a wide toe box style in order to avoid any toe crunching. Cushioned flats is an alternative too.

3. Boots

With all issues aside, boots are one of the average type of shoes according to our foot experts. It doesn't offer lots of support so the ankle is able to anchor the foot gear to the foot because of its tall style. Anyone who choose to walk or run with a chunky boot could experience pain in the back, calf and achilles. Wearing boots too often can cause serious damage. "That's why they are seasonal", says Dr. Novella.

The only solution for this is to use boots for a temporary amount of time. Make sure you always wear a pair of socks.

Based from all the studies they've done, our experts stresses that our feet needs time to recover from all the strain we put on them, so every type of shoe should be enjoyed in moderation. Switching pairs as you arrive to your destination or having reserved pairs in your car could be a big help.

It may sound like a lot of work, but keeping these things in mind would also help you preserve your precious feet. Don't forget that if you experience any discomfort, be sure to consult your physician.
