Whenever we talk about the most comfortable footwear, the first thing that comes to our mind is -- Flip Flops. They are in the form of a flat sole and a y-shaped thong that runs between the big toe and second toe. There's a wide range of materials used in flip flops such as plastic, rubber and other synthetic materials which make them affordable and comfortable to wear.

1. Flip Flops are the oldest form of footwear. Since the stone age, Archeologists found lots of evidence of sandals from Asia to Africa.

Ancient Egyptians made their sandals out of papyrus while ancient Chinese made theirs from rice straw.

2. They are called flip flops because of the sound they make as the wearer walks. The name led the boundless popularity of this footwear and now they are made with different varieties.

3. Flip flops started to became more popular in the 1950's. The Japanese called them "zori" during that time. This footwear was first introduced to the Americans after the World War II during the same year.
