1. Bibimpap is easy to make
A lot of us have been struggling with being able to cook like our parents and now we're on our own, we're mostly stuck with instant noodles and sandwiches. Put those aside and treat yourself to a bowl of easy-to-make Bibimpap.
Most of its ingredients are easy to find in your local grocery, too. A regular Bibimpap just needs several slices of vegetables, lean meat (or fish), hot pepper paste spread underneath short grain rice, all placed in a shallow bowl. Top with an egg. Toss in shredded seaweeds to add flavor.
The vegetables are steamed and the meat is sauteed and seasoned with simple, down-to-earth ingredients such as soy sauce, pepper paste, and sesame seeds. The burst of colors in this dish makes for a visually appealing presentation that would have you looking like you were born with a spatula in your hand.

3. Bibimpap immerses you in Korean history
Bibimpap was based on a royal dish that was served in the Middle Ages. The earliest written record of this unique dish is found in the annals of the kings "Bubimbap", a light meal for a king. However, there are a lot of speculations about the origins of this dish. It's like rice mixed with vegetation for communal feeding. Another theory is that it came to be when fruits, vegetables, rice, cakes, and fish and other "thankful" foods are put together to form a simple meal after ancestor ceremonies. Another interesting theory is that since there was no time to cook food during battles, rice, meat, and vegetables (or whatever ingredients are available) are mixed to form one filling dish (see? like stated in point 1, it's very easy to make).
There are many bibimpap variations out there such as jeonju, jinju, andong - the list goes on! So if you're looking for different and unique Bibimpap experiences, you should try them or create a unique combination of your own!
Till next time!
