[Decor] Spring Cleaning Your Closet

It's only a little over a month 'til the first day of spring and you know what that means? It's time for the annual spring cleaning! A time to remove all the dust and clutter that have accumulated over the cold winter months.

So I've broken down a 5-step basic spring cleaning routine for a stress-free way to a more organized closet as we welcome the blooms and dewy sunshine of beautiful springtime.

1) Start clean! Remove all stored clothes, bags, shoes and accessories. Dust all the shelves, racks and bars, air out the rugs and then mop and vacuum the floor.

2) Sort through all of your clothes and shoes and then store any out-of-season items. Put aside everything you didn’t wear this season. Make a few extra bucks if you sell new pieces with tags on ebay or donate them to a charity or a second-hand shop to help those in need.

3) Visualize how you'd like your closet to look like while it's empty. Divide the spaces, prioritize function and check if you would need to install additional bars, hooks, racks or shelving.

4) An important detail is to make sure that all your hangers are of the same size and shape. Mismatched hangers look chaotic and take up unnecessary space.

5) Categorize your clothes and group them together. Hang all items by color, arrange tops by sleeve length and bottoms by hem length to minimize the time it takes for you to find a specific piece.

Remember, an organized closet will lead you into an ultimate fashion zen. In the meantime, let's enjoy the last few weeks of winter with our steaming cups of cocoa shall we? Wink!
