[Decor] Selecting a Christmas Tree

It's beginning to feel, smell and look a lot like Christmas! But before you get started on the decorations, here's an essential guide to picking out a perfect natural Christmas tree.

Whatever your theme may be, traditional or modern, there are 4 important things you need to consider so you end up taking home the tree of your dreams.

1. Room Space

Before leaving the house, measure the height of your ceiling where you will display the tree. Ideally, you must choose a tree that's at least a foot shorter than your ceiling.

2. Freshness

A simple way to check is to rub your fingers along the bottom branches to see if needles fall off. It's also important to never buy a Christmas tree that has already been packed into a netting.

  • Branches should be flexible
  • Needles are intact on the branches
  • Has full, healthy-looking and not browning, green foliage

    3. Tree Type

The basic difference between the four kinds are the needles. When they dry out, a spruce will lose almost all of its needles while a fir or a pine will only shed a small amount. Another thing to consider is your preferred shape, scent and lushness.

A plump tree is already beautiful on its own, but if you'd like to hang a lot of ornaments, getting a tree with shorter branches will be a better fit as it will allow decorations to cascade down beautifully.

    4. Potted or not?

If you don't feel so good about cutting up a tree and then disposing it afterwards, you can select a tree that still has its roots on. After Christmas you can simply plant it in your garden or backyard but, bear in mind that they don't always survive through the seasons so make sure to take good care of its roots.
